Mobile Studios’ PortaCast HD flypacks and crew helped Discovery Communications produce Nik Wallenda’s daring high wire crossing of the Grand Canyon to affiliated networks throughout Latin America and Mexico. Five Mobile Studios PortaCast systems produced live feeds of Spanish and Portuguese dubbed SD/HD broadcasts and ran commercials during breaks to network affiliates in Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, Columbia along with Discovery’s U.S. Spanish language channel. Each Mobile Studios PortaCast flypack was equipped with a NewTek TriCaster 455 or 855 operated by a Mobile Studios technical director. All played different commercials during synchronized commercial breaks, inserted the animated Discovery bug and viewer ratings at appropriate times and were prepared to air emergency graphics as needed.
Mobile Studios was honored to play a prominent role in the successful production of Discovery Channel’s highest-rated live event among adults 25-54, and the highest-rated special since “Walking with the Dinosaurs” in 2000.
